Cheryl A. Bachelder became CEO of AFC Enterprises, Inc. and president of Popeyes® Louisiana Kitchen in November 2007. On her arrival she established a strategic plan that has guided the company to strong marketplace performance. In 2010, Popeyes delivered another year of strong positive results against its Strategic Plan. Popeyes grew same-store sales and guest traffic for the second consecutive year. Concurrently, Popeyes continued to improve its retail operations and restaurant profitability. Popeyes opened 106 new restaurants globally last year, entering three new international markets, the Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, and Vietnam.
Ms. Bachelder has served as director of AFC Enterprises since November 2006, True Value Corporation since July 2006 and Procter & Gamble APFI Advisory Board since July 2009. She has served on the board of directors for the National Restaurant Association since May 2009.
From 2001 to 2003, Ms. Bachelder was the president and chief concept officer for KFC Corporation in Louisville, KY. While at KFC, she had full P&L accountability for the U.S. restaurant operations. During her tenure, she implemented new menu boards, a successful value initiative, improved food quality in the restaurants, and launched new operations scorecards to improve execution.
From 1995 to 2000, Ms. Bachelder served as vice president, marketing and product development for Domino's Pizza, Inc. She was the brand architect responsible for contemporizing the restaurant chain during which time the chain saw strong same-store sales growth for five consecutive years across 5,400 units.
Prior to her restaurant experience, Ms. Bachelder served as general manager of the LifeSavers Division of RJR Nabisco. Her early career years included brand management roles at The Gillette Company and The Procter & Gamble Company.
Ms. Bachelder holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. She is married to Chris Bachelder and they have three daughters.
